CultureFest

 Scotland Day

1st graders need to wear blue and white tomorrow for free dress.

Friday is Spirit Dress.

I am so proud of these hard working readers who reached their goal this week!

Key Concepts for the Week:

Religion--We will learn about the gift of the Holy Spirit that came to Jesus' Followers.    All school Mass with our 7th grade buddies is Wednesday.

Language Arts/Grammar:  The phonics sound for the week will be long /o/ using digraphs /oa and ow/ which will also be seen in the spelling words.  The main story selection  for the week is "A Trip to Washington, D.C."  Our grammar usage of adjectives will continue with an emphasis on size.  The decodable story "It's Spring!" will be sent home on Wednesday night.

Handwriting:  The new spelling words will be introduced on Monday.   We are going to use our handwriting book to practice the letter strokes for uppercase /U/.  I will give a practice spelling test on Wednesday. Spelling test on Friday.

Math--No math homework Monday night due to our CultureFest activities.  The rest of the week we will complete the last few geometry lessons before taking the Chapter test on Friday.

Science--Monday we will celebrate Earth Day!   We will read and learn about natural resources, make our own mini-book, and enjoy a Scholastic Newspaper.

SPELLING WORDS:  boat, road, snow, row, blow, yellow, loaf, coat, soap, pillow

WORDS TO PRACTICE READING:  wild, mouth, found, took, once
