Religion Show 'n Tell Presentation Week!
The instructions went home in your child's folder on Thursday. It has the 2 sentences they need to be able to say orally and the grading rubric. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thursday just our class will have a free dress. They earned the reward for being the quietest class in the hallway in December.
We made cute handprint mittens for our January door last week.The children learned about Polar animals. Each group make a polar animal that is going to be put in the hallway. Pictures below give a sneak peek of some of the animals created.
Key Concepts for the Week:
Religion--Monday and Tuesday we will learn about the gifts of Baptism. Mass on Wednesday. Baptism presentations are Thursday. Friday we will start Chapter 14 in the book.
Language Arts/Phonics--The vowel sound for the week is long /u/ using our friend sneaky "E". We will also be applying inflected endings to words. The main story selection is "Life in the Forest." The grammar lessons will focus on using singular and plural nouns. The decodable reading book homework will continue on Wednesday nights.
Handwriting--New spelling words will be introduced on Monday. Tuesday the children will complete a Build-a-Sentence activity about Martin Luther King. Practice spelling test on Wednesday, build-a-sentence on Thursday with the focus being the word "fair", and the spelling test on Friday.
Math--We will continue Chapter 8 using addition strategies to solve equations with sums to 20. The end of Chapter test will be on Friday.
Social Studies--This week we will be learning how to treat each other fairly and not be judge others by their outward appearance throughout unit on Martin Luther King. Monday we will read about him in the Scholastic Newspaper, Tuesday we will create a timeline, Wednesday and Thursday we are going to be making posters, and on Friday have a STEM project.
