Week of March 2nd

It's Read Across America Week!


A yellow letter was sent home last Thursday with the daily themes.  Pizza Box Book report is due Wednesday and the presentations are on Friday.

Families that made an auction donation during driveline last week, a free dress pass was sent home in your child's folder that can be used on Friday.

We are still collecting items for our class "Beach Bum" basket.  Ideas such as water balloons, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, magic sand, play-doh, etc.. can be sent with your child.


Mrs. Huggins helped both classes create a new hallway bulletin board.

Friday we will go to Adoration

Key Concepts for the Week:

Religion--We will continue Chapter 17. which focuses on Celebrating The Mass. The children will identify ways to share the light of Christ with others and ways to be a peacemaker. Wednesday will go to Mass. Friday is Adoration. 

 Language Arts--Monday we are going to learn about verb tense and will do our decodable story for this unit. Tuesday and Wednesday we will practice our main story of "Frog and Toad." Friday will be the comprehension test for the story.

Handwriting--Spelling Words will be sent home on Monday. Tuesday we will read the Scholastic News for Read Across America Week. Practice spelling test on Wednesday. Author study activity on Thursday and final spelling test Friday. 

 Math--We are starting Chapter 11 on using tens to add on to a number. 

 Author Study--Monday the students will be making a hat to match our Eric Carle book, Tuesday we will be creating our own cookie with "If you Give a Mouse a Cookie", Wednesday we will make a pigeon craft using our flashlight, Thursday we are doing a "Frog and Toad" activity, and Friday we will be doing a "Horton Hears a Who" activity before going to Adoration.

 WORDS TO PRACTICE READING: afraid, few, how, soon, again, house, read
